I'm not so Sure, Jeep. The Question was ................

It doesn't matter who was "Famous" at the Time he Played. Kenny Perry is the ONLY One Mentioned, who is Active NOW. He's on TV, several times, in most Weeks. That would seem to give him the Inside Track.

Again, the Question asks "WHO IS", not "WHO WAS".

I don't think that's what he means at all. I think he means of all the former Topper athletes who are still living today, who is the most well known by name amongst people outside of our area at this time regardless of whether they're still active or not now.

That said, I would think it's Clem Haskins. Perhaps Courtney Lee, Kenny Perry, or Romeo Crennel in some circles. I think the majority of people don't have a clue who Jim McDaniels is for the most part, due to his disappointing and short professional career. John Oldham is also kind of an unknown outside of our area unfortunately. And even I had to look up to see who Nick Rose was, so that would be a no.

Yeah. I wish he had just gone there--it's embarrassing to hear it.

agreed with that.....I do not know the guy, but judging by some of his comments recently I have lost respect for him...Nothing pisses me off than someone who graduates from WKU but you would think they went to school and graduated from UK.....

Although his playing days are well behind him, Clem Haskins would be near the top with his coaching as well - although his Final Four is now quite a while ago. Of course he benefits from getting brought up when discussions of cheating scandals start so that keeps his name out there.

Darrin Horn would probably be in the top 5 to 10 also.

Really interesting question. Kudos to my pal O.T.T. I'm down wit' O.T.T., yeah, you know me.

I was gonna say Kenny Perry, because of his near-miss at the Masters last year. That made him a national figure, if only for awhile. But now that I think about it, I'd put Kenny a close second to Romeo Crennel. Even though he didn't succeed as an NFL head coach, that's still a opportunity few men get. And he's got Super Bowl rings as an assistant.

More people follow the NFL than the PGA.

Clem Haskins would be third, although he's been out of the limelight now for several years. He coached a team to the Final Four. Of course, not all of Clem's name recognition is positive.

After that you get to Courtney Lee and Darrin Horn.
