Grizzled Vet ?

Noticed Kenny had a salt 'n peppa moustache-goatee thing going at the U.S. Open.

Also, didn't appear to be Justin on his bag, but not sure if it was Freddie or not. In all that TV time Kenny got, you'd think I could have figured it out.

He never seems to get any coverage, yet they would show every other Tom, Dick and Beed! Wink

Well, we have to admit, he didn't do a whole lot that would get him much coverage.

Besides, if you are showing the leaders once in a while and every shot and step that Tiger takes, that doesn't leave you much time.

Paul "Sunshine" Goydos just fired a 59 (12 under) to take the first round lead at the John Deere. After a good first nine of 31, he blistered the back in 28 ! ! One par to go along with 8 birdies ! !

Goydos is another example of a truly phenomenal story out there that is untold in the mass media due to its infatuation with all things Tiger.

If you want a human interest story, and to find out about one of the really great guys on tour, just google Paul Goydos and read a few of the articles.

Kenny just finished with a 68 (-3) and is currently T18.

59 in a tour event is unreal. That's as big a deal as a perfect game in baseball. I wonder if it'll get much news coverage since he's not Tiger (who hasn't done it).

Since Perry was quoted as being a Western Grad but saying I root for UK sports big time, wonder if the UK board has a Perry Forum..

Kenny turning in a yeoman's effort so far today, -1 through 13. Currently T46.

Meanwhile John Daly shoots 66 and the young Irishman, Rory McIlroy ties the all time major championship record score with a 63 in the first round. His scorecard for holes 9 thru 15 ?

Seems like someone has been going crazy in each of the past few tourneys.

The following C&Ped from PGATour.com

Kenny Perry -- Fantasy golf takes a back seat to most priorities in our lives (let's hope so, right?), and one of them deserves recognition this week. For every birdie he circles at The Greenbrier, Perry will be donating $2,000 to a fund established for the 29 families that were affected by the mining tragedy near Montcoal, W.Va., in April. As a native of neighboring Kentucky, Perry has an emotional bond with the communities in the Mountain State. The Greenbrier owner, Jim Justice, will match Perry's contribution. For the full story, click here.

Perry ranks 21st in greens in regulation and sixth in ball-striking this year, but he's a horrid 160th in putting. He's missed just two cuts in 16 starts, but has just one top-10 (SBS Championship). No question everyone involved wants him to fire at pins all week, but Perry, who turns 50 on Aug. 10, ranks 121st in birdie average. Go get 'em, Kenny.

Kenny typically is comfortable in classic, park style courses (Colonial, Memorial, The Hartford, etc.) so maybe the venerable Old White Course at Greenbrier will be a good track for him this week.
